On February 7, 1964 - The Beatles arrive in New York. In 1964, The Beatles were rated in Britain as a national asset through export sales of their recordings. On February 7, 1964, the Beatles exported themselves to the United States. I Wanna Hold Your Hand was already number 1 on the U.S. charts, when 25,000 fans and a media onslaught welcomed them at New York's Kennedy Airport. “When you arrived at the airport, and there were only 9 girls waiting to meet you - were you disappointed“, a reporter asks. “And do you think that's a reflection of a loss of popularity?“ John and Paul reply -“Yeah, we wgot real broke down, really disappointed“. Traffic had to be blocked off around Carnegie Hall when the Fab Four played 2 sold-out performances that could scarcely be heard above the screams of frenzied fans. They made their TV debut on Ed Sullivan and soon had the 5 top hits in the nation.
