A car bomb in Pakistan kills at least 75 people, wounding 60. The blast happened in a crowd of people at a volleyball tournament. Police say 300 people were on the field when the bomber drove up, possibly targeting a meeting of anti-Taliban leaders nearby.
In Brazil, a mudslide kills at least 17 people, crashing homes in the lodge in an upscale resort near Rio de Janeiro. Heavy rains apparently loosened a slab of hillside more than 300 yards wide.
