UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announces that the UN will participate in Earth Hour on 28 March by turning off the lights at its headquarters in NY and at other sites around the world. More than 1,000 cities around the world will participate in the event which will show support for action on climate change and for an agreement in Copenhagen this December.
联合国秘书长潘基文日前宣布联合国加入“地球一小时”行动。3越28日晚上，纽约的联合国总部及世界各地其他的联合国机构将关灯一个小时。世界的1000多个城市都加入了这一活动。
什么是“地球一小时”？
"地球一小时"是WWF（世界自然基金会）应对全球气候变化所提出的一项倡议，希望个人、社区、企业和政府在特定的时间熄灯一小时，来表明他们对应对气候变化行动的支持。2009年，"地球一小时"的目标是希望全球1000个城市的约10亿人参与到这个活动中。
