But first to Pakistan where officials say Taleban militants in the north-west of the country have blown up 5 schools - including 3 boys schools. Last week, hundreds of privately run schools in the district of Swat said they would no longer teach girls because of threats from the militants. The Taleban think education for girls is un-Islamic. They've burnt down more than 130 schools over the past year.
Next, the Israeli military says a ceasefire with Hamas militants in Gaza appears to be holding. Israel has begun withdrawing troops. They had been attacking members of Hamas for three weeks to try to stop them firing rockets at Israeli towns. The United Nations says more than half a million people had no water for the three week period, and many people had no power. Israel is now expected to open its border crossings to allow aid in.
