今天要学的一个词是：pump。pump，p-u-m-p 一般是指泵，或抽水机。可是今天讲的pump是指汽车加油站的泵。英国石油公司宣布停止在阿拉斯加的石油开采，洛杉矶时报的标题说：Oilfield Closure to Hit Pumps--意思是：油田关闭将影响油价。
石油供应量减少油价必然会升高，但是分析人员说：...it was too early to say how much pump prices would rise--意思是：要说油价会涨多少还为时过早。
Consumers complain that rising prices at the pump have hit their pockets--消费者抱怨不断上涨的油价使他们的支出增加。 最好的办法是少开车，少加油--drive less，go less often to the pump!
