在美国最常见的宠物是狗、猫、鸟及鱼。宠物，如狗和猫，成为人们的好陪伴。但除了陪伴人们以外，宠物们还很有用。例如，狗能保护家产、牛群及羊，为盲人导路。猴子，在美国是较少见的一种宠物，不久将成为残疾人的好帮手。科学家们正在训练猴子们帮助瘫痪病人做一些简单的事情，如吃饭，收拾房间，甚至能调换电视频道！
