Voiceover:
Chichén-Itzá, the ancient Mayan city founded in the 1100 AD, once the panicle of all civilization. And it teams with archaeological gems. Robin is on top of El Castillo "the castle" as the pyramid is called to show us some of the marvels. Robin!

Robin:
I feel like I'm on top of the world, Diane. In fact I'm on the north side of the pyramid which is 79 feet tall, and I have to keep telling myself not to look down. You know, one point this was completely underground. In fact, the entire ancient city had to be dug out of the earth and the excavation began in the 1800s. And what they uncovered confirmed the belief that the Mayans were centuries ahead of their time.

Voiceover:
Imagine, a mere two-hour drive from the Mexican resorts city of Cancun, a wonder, a breath-taking proportions--the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen-Itza. Over one million tourists from around the world come each year to visit. A spellbinding site. And even more remarkable, considering these incredible structures were built as many as 1100 years ago. The Mayan people had no metal, no wheel to move the mountains of stone, yet they managed to build cities. Cities that have both amazed and compelled the scholars since the early 1920s when Chichen-Itza was the first of the ancient Mayan sites to be excavated.
