Fishing is my favourite sport. I often fish for hours without catching anything. But this does not worry me. Some fishermen are unlucky. Instead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish. I am even less lucky. I never catch anything -- not even old boots. After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an empty bag. 'You must give up fishing!' my friends say. 'It's a waste of time.' But they don't realize one important thing. I'm not really interested in fishing. I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!

第三部分 LANGUAGE POINTS
1.Fishing is my favourite sport.
Fishing:动名词做主语，语法功能相当于名词
sport：消遣，娱乐（game,pastime）
2.I often fish for hours without catching anything.
fish:vi.
without catching:prep+v.ing
catch v. 抓到
常用catch词组：
catch cold 染上感冒
catch a bus 赶车
catch one's breath 摒住呼吸
catch sight of = see 看见
catch fire 着火
catch one's eyes 吸引某人注意力
without:prep.
注意：介词后面一定要加宾语（n./v.ing etc.）
3.Instead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish.
=They don't catch fish, instead they catch old boots and rubbish.(此句中用了连词instead,比较课文中句子)
instead of:介词短语，意思为作为...的替换
rubbish:不可数名词
4.I am even less lucky.
=I'm not even as lucky as they are.（not as...as...）
此句完整表达为：I am even less lucky than those fishmen who only catch boots and rubbish.
less+a.原形 : A is less ... than B A不如B...
5.You must give up fishing.
give up:放弃...（后跟n.）
fishing:动名词做宾语
6.But they don't realize one important thing.
realize:1）意识到...2）实现
第四部分 KEY STRUCTURES AND USAGE
动名词
形 式：v.ing
语法功能：相当于名词，可做句子中主/宾语
例句应用：
1)动名词作主语
Eating is always a pleasure. 吃总是一件愉快的事情.
Watching television is my favourite pastime. 看电视是我最喜爱的业馀爱好.
Reading in bed is something I always enjoy. 我总喜欢躺在床上看书
2)动名词作宾语
I am very keen on cycling. 我非常喜欢骑自行车.
She is afraid of staying in that house alone. 她害怕单独住在那间屋子里.
He is capable of doing anything. 他能胜任任何事情.
I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!(doing后还可以跟宾语nothing)
