“Camp Rock,” Disney’s latest made-for-television musical, kept millions of tween viewers on the couch over the weekend, drawing an average of 8.9 million viewers to the Disney Channel Friday night and 3.6 million to ABC on Saturday night.

The Disney Channel premiere was the most popular show on television on Friday, and it ranked as the cable channel’s top-rated entertainment telecast of the year. But it did not reach the heights of the reigning tween musical, “High School Musical 2,” which netted 17.2 million viewers last August.
